| Installation and Updates |
|
You have not installed the Windows Installer which is needed for the installation of the XML Parser. Please install the Windows Installer and repeat the setup of M-DVD.Org V2 again.
|
|
M-DVD.Org V2 uses in the audio module the component AudioGenie2.0 to read and write tag information and the component MediaInfo 0.7 to read the meta information in the video module. These components need, however, unicode support which is only available with Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Since you have had this error message you presumably have Win98 or ME installed on your PC.
Please download and install the following file to get the Unicode support (System32 - folder in the Windows directory):
Download unicode support from Microsoft
|
|
Presumably you have installed a test version of M-DVD.Org V2 which may be newer than the full version delivered on CD.
Your software and database versions will now be different in case you have uninstalled the test version before installing the full version.
To synchronize your software and database versions please install the current update from our website.
|
|
All components which M-DVD.Org V2 uses are installed without any further request or assistance from the user.
Components for which you get this message are not related to M-DVD.Org V2 and are not needed to run M-DVD.Org V2.
The reason for starting their installation is in most cases a overlay in the Windows registry.
To resolve this problem please install the component mentioned in the installation message. Please search in Google to find the component.
|
|
Presumably the update setup is unable to replace the file because M-DVD.Org V2 is open in the background.
Please close M-DVD.Org V2 and click on "Repeat" in the window of the error message or alternatively repeat the installation of the update.

| Start and Registration |
|
This error results mainly from problems with the database drivers. Please install the latest versions of MDAC and JET.
You will find the download links at the bottom of the ReadMe file.
|
|
If you have a test version of M-DVD.Org V2 installed before installing the full version the databases already exist. Therefore the first start assistant which requests your registration details is no longer started.
Please go to "Tools - Settings" and click on the flag "Personal" to enter your registration details.
After a new start your full version will be activated.
|
|
You may have inadvertently entered your registration key in the field for your registration name.
You must enter your registration key using the button "..."!
|
|
Only three registrations of the software are allowed to stop unauthorized transfer of copies of M-DVD.Org V2.
Upon the third registration you are therefore asked to save your user settings/registration (UserSettings.db).
Restore now the backup of your user settings/registration (UserSettings.db) as described in the help under "General Functions - Database Backup".
In case you have not a backup of your user settings/registration please contact us using the contact form on our website and ask us to delete
already existing registrations. For that purpose you will have to fill in all the fields in the contact form and send us your registration key, too
|
|
The cancellation of a database migration into the latest version is in most cases due to database drivers being out-dated (especially under Windows 2000).
Please install the latest version of MDAC/JET for your system.
The download links for your operating systems are listed in the Readme file.

The cause may be a computer crash or M-DVD.Org V2 crash which may have damaged the database structure.
In this case a compression of the database may help - this is started automatically upon recognition of a damage in the database.
If this does not help and a restore of database backups (see help "General functions - Database backup/Restore") does not work
please send us an enquiry to supply you with a database repair tool. Send your enquiry to support@synapp.de

Temporary files are created in the database by installation of database updates for DVD-Archive and also by intensive work with the database.
This has an impact on performance which is noticed especially on start and on search/filter.
This problem may be resolved by a database compression which you may start either in menu "Tools - Compress DVD-Archive" or "Tools - Compress database".

| Functionality and other Problems |

You need to have Excel 97 or a newer version installed to enable M-DVD.Org V2 to export data to and print data through Excel.

|
Possibly the XML-Parser has not been installed correctly.
Please install if from this website:

This bug is mainly seen in Win98/ ME and the reason is that an ASPI driver of the operating system is defective. Please install the latest ASPI driver on your PC. This is obtainable on the Adaptec - homepage.
Here is the corresponding link for the downloads:
Download ASPI driver from Adaptec

The reason for this may be among other things a crash of your PC or of M-DVD.Org V2 which damaged the database structure.
--> In this case a compression of the database may help and can be started under "tools - compress database".
If neither this nor a recovery of database backups (see help "general functions - database backup/recovery") resolves the problem it may be that a defective installation of system components by another application has caused an incompatibility of several database driver components.
This manifests itself in permanent problems polling data (from database backups, too)!
In this case only a repair of the components with e.g. the following tool can fix the problem:
Download MDAC-Repair
Download MDAC-Repair (!!! Link for WinXP SP2 !!!)

CD text is not available on most purchased CDs. Burn programs like Nero enable you, however, to burn CD text on audio CDs which you have created. This is only possible if your burner supports burning CD texts.
Readout is only possible if it is supported by the CD-ROM which you have entered in your M-DVD.Org V2 settings.
Detailed information on the formats your CD-ROM supports can be found on the manufacturer's website.

|
The reason for this message is an interruption in the database connection which has lead to M-DVD.Org V2 being unable to poll new data and to save modified data.
M-DVD.Org V2 tries to re-establish the connection - in most cases you will have to re-start M-DVD.Org V2 to reinstate a fully functional connection.
To the best of our knowledge the reason for this problem is a limitation in the Microsoft database drivers which are used by M-DVD.Org V2.
There is actually no fix we can offer on our part - we are, however, trying to find a solution.

This message does not relate to bug 2.15 if it appears upon entering a new cover. This is an error identifier.
So far this error only occured upon data transfer from version 1.x when the data was damaged in the old V1.x database.
To put things right please compress the database with M-DVD.Org V1.x before migrating the data into version 2.x.
If you come across this error please contact us using the BugReport.

Nobody is perfect - neither are we, unfortunately. Despite thorough tests and a long beta phase it may have happened that we overlooked a bug or error in the current version of M-DVD.Org V2.
Errors may also depend on specific PC configurations and unfortunately we cannot test all configurations.
With the BugReport you can support us to find bugs. The BugReport is a classical feedback form which allows you to discribe the error in detail thus enabling us to find the bug.
